Well I watched it anyway!

I remembered watching this one the first time round, although don't think I'd seen it since. Nice that Kid Jensen referred to the previous weekend's screening of 'Thank You Very Much'.

Dave Lawson on keys and Mo Foster on bass. I think they appeared on TOTP three times with Riders in the Sky. So two more to go...

Hello all

Did I miss something? I watched the whole programme and never saw any sign or mention of The Shadows. Have I watched the wrong programme or were The Shads edited out? I was very disappointed as there was some terrible 'music' on there.

Jim :(

Jim,
Sadly, for reasons best known to them, BBCFour edit the 7.30pm show down to 30 mins (from 40). The complete 40 min show was shown much later at 1am. I managed to stay up and watch it. Fortunately I didn't have to sit through it all again, as the Shads were on 15 mins into the show! I suggest you (and anyone else who's interested) goes to the BBC iPlayer to watch it there.

All the best,
CD

One could be forgiven for thinking that the BBC had something against The Shadows.

Yet again, for the 2nd time, they were cut out of the 7.30 showing of Top of the Pops (with Riders in the Sky). Strange, as the TOTP presenters always seem to regard them with some reverence (entirely due, of course).

Anyway, they were on the later showing. And here it is...

WARNING: there is some absolute dross in the show as well.

Can't believe the amount of sheer dross I had to sit through just to see 3 minutes of the Shads!

Just watched this - Hank wielding a nice black Strat and Bruce an off white one. What a fabulous bass sound!

The biggest shock was the synth drum interlude in the descending section back to the chorus!!! I don't recall having heard Brian Bennett play that before and the Shads band I played in most certainly didn't!!

I take the point made by others in some of the other music - Kenny Rogers is just key changing his way through Coward of the County .........

All relatively inoffensive stuff just having got in from a Saturday night gig (I'm not usually up this late!!)
