Instrument Insurance

Postby BrianD » 25 Mar 2015, 18:48

Insurance of valuable guitars. This is really for fellow UK residents. Many of us own a number of guitars and it can be quite frightening to tot up the value / cost of replacement were one's house to be burned down and all the instruments written off, or if they were stolen. I did a tot up of mine and this comes to around £30,000. I used to include a schedule under my household items for "specified items" but this put a massive hike on the annual premium. I wonder if anyone has come up with or can recommend a cost effective solution to providing adequate insurance cover for guitars. This becomes particularly relevant when you stop working and become a pensioner!!!

Hi Brian, Have you tried insuring them as a musician? It usually works something like £2500 per instrument or £25000 for total musical equipment. or just add £30k to your household contents cover providing you know their limit on specified items, try Allianz for a free quote. http://www.allianzmusicalinsurance.co.uk/?gclid=CP7mjZrLxMQCFcGx2wodrF8Akg regards Gary
