Cavatina (Deerhunter) time signature

Can anyone confirm that the time signature for Cavatina, is 3/4?

It does rather depend who is playing it - I heard it played once in what I could only describe as "1"! That is rather like Martin Carthy playing a very obscure folk song!

Played properly (!) it makes an excellent ballroom waltz, i.e. 3/4 time.

I've played it to the UBH backing track for our ballroom dancing club.

By any chance does he also . . .
Refuse to use anything but sticks?
Idly tap his drums before the set starts and in between tunes?
Refuse to balance his volume to match the rest of the band so that the overall level creeps up and up?

Remind him that this number works perfectly well without drums...

The only drum beat that is of importance in Cavatina, is the second beat of the bar which should be a rim shot.
That advice is straight from the guv'nor , B.B. 'cause I asked him when I worked with him - and yes, it's 3/4 - but what does he know ?
