What are your memories?

Postby rebeccastewart » 11 Sep 2015, 15:25

Hello all,

I am working for a production company that is making a new documentary called The People's History of Pop for BBC Four, due to air in 2016. This will encompass every genre from skiffle to punk, rock and roll to Britpop.

Obviously The Shadows are a big part of the UK's musical history and so I am keen to hear your memories and see your memorabilia.

We are currently crowdsourcing photos and audio/video of people's cherished music memorabilia - ticket stubs, diary entries, teen band recordings, wrist bands, rare footage and more - to tell the stories of British rock and pop music from the fifties to the noughties through the memories of fans that were there.

If you would like to get involved then please share your stuff on our website http://www.phop.co.uk. Everything sent in will be part of an incredible online archive and will culminate with a television series for BBC FOUR, featuring the best of what's been uploaded to the site.

If you would like more information then please email me: rebeccastewart@7wonder.co.uk or phone my office on 0203701 7619

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Rebecca

No Rebecca the Shadows were not a bit part - they were a major part - many groups only got started due to seeing the Shadows
Too much of the Media think that the 60s started with the Beatles - not true! George Harrison said "No Shadows - no Beatles!"
Now is your chance to paint a true and often overlooked part of the 60s music!

I suspect that bit is a typo and she meant to type 'big'.

Yeah, I'm fairly sure that she meant to say BIG, as there is only about one millimetre between the G and the T on the QWERTY keyboard!

Just been speaking to Rebecca, and, yes, she meant BIG...

She's looking for early Shads mementos, pics, ticket stubs, programmes, photos of your early sixties Shads band, recordings of those early bands if if have them...

And, make no mistake, this is your opportunity to set the record straight as to the significance of The Shadows and their part in the history British pop.
