We had a good meeting last week in Winchester. Myself, Audrey & Barry Knapp, Justin Daish, David Hawley (now helping us out) and, of course, Janet.
5 years down the line and still going. It is thanks to everyone connected to the Shadows / Jet and many members of this site that the fund is still active. Donations are still coming in from the general public. But....we still have many great people from Shadowmusic keeping interest alive and donating. This October, there is a Shadowsmix event at Bourne End and I know that the organisers / participants plan to donate any profits to the JHMF. This is what you great people can do*.....put on events with groups / bands playing the music we all love and keeping the music of the Shadows in general and Jet in particular alive.
* Erm, meaning that I am a hopeless guitarist - but that so many of you who play do great things.
I know that Janet (& indeed all of us who run the JHMF completely voluntarily) is extremely grateful for everything that everyone continues to do to perpetuate Jet's music & memory as well as helping to raise money for the JHMF (which is officially allied to Cancer Research UK). Just recently the Duane Eddy Circle donated money to the fund and a wonderful email was received from Duane himself!!! I may ask Janet & Audrey to post about it. But...the main news is that the JHMF (which is thanks to every single person who has supported it) has now raised (& sent off) £19, 125 for Cancer Research UK (specifically for continuing research into the causes of Cancer Of The Unknown Primary - CUP - which is what Jet ultimately died of).
So, on behalf of the JHMF....I would just like to say...a big THANK YOU to everyone for your much appreciated and continued support.
Bests....Rob B
