Finders Keepers

Postby LONGPLAYER09 » 19 Jan 2016, 00:13

Just been read an article in todays D Mail re an American plane crash over Spain in 1966. Interesting that Cliff/Shads made a film about a similar scenario also in Spain, & in 1966. Although the film was slated, (i think there were some good tunes), it's a strange coincidence? Still were lucky to be here to tell the tale according to the paper.

It was stated at the time that the "Finders Keepers" plot was inspired by the American nuclear bomb which was lost (but found) in the Mediterranean Sea.

Yes it was based on a lost bomb and not a plane crash! Famous of course for the green Burns!

I didn't know the film had been slated. I thought it was much better than Wonderful Life. The music was excellent and composed by Welch-Marvin-Bennett-Rostill throughout.

I was looking forward to it but was disappointed, the only thing that saved it was the music and the Shadows had far more screen time than previous films.
It was too silly, i couldn't even enjoy it was 'escapist fun'.

A friend of mine bought it on DVD for me last year. I had seen it twice before, once in the late 1970s (I think) and then again in the early 80s.

I like it!

Great songs - including the Ivor Novello winning Time Drags By - and the Shads in far more prominent roles. As good as Summer Holiday and better than Wonderful Life.

Apart from 'The Savage/We Say Yeah' and 'Round & Round' clips I find all the movies too difficult to watch. Very much of the pre-Beatles era - or should it be pre-Stones?

I too preferred FK to WL - probably because the latter not only had a 'moral', but also insisted on bashing us over the head with it!
