To help anyone who has not been to Levisham before some useful information below:
There is only limited parking at the station and the Forestry Commision has a locked gate across the forest road, so no parking in the woods.
It is recommended to come on the train but if you do come by road the scenery is spectacular and you will remember the journey!
Directions to LEVISHAM STATION (YO18 7NN)
By Road
From A169 Whitby – Pickering road take the turnoff for Lockton/Levisham.
Pass through Lockton following the signs for Levisham Only.
Continue through Levisham village and at the Horseshoe Inn follow the sign for Levisham Stn Only. (The station is one and a half miles from the village and 400 feet lower in the bottom of the valley).
Beware – this is a single track road with passing places!
At the bottom of the hill the Station car park is on the left before the level crossing.
Parking is free with a request for a donation to the Station Group.
By Train
From Pickering (YO18 7AJ)
Park in the NYMR Station car park (Pay & Display £5 all day) or the Trout Lake car park (£5 all day – pay at gate).
A footpath at the side of the railway workshop building leads to the station.
At the booking office buy a ticket to Levisham. £9 return. (Senior over 65 £8)
Trains leave at 10-50, 12-00, 14-00. Board in the front three coaches.
Return on trains at 14-20, 15-25, 17-25
