I really am serious. I have heard someone mentioning this, but again, if it's true I don't know. In any case, I think they aren't as strong anymore as they used to be. Some fans have said they reached their peak in 1979...

I agree with this. I saw them together in 2009. Also, I've been to concerts of The Shadows themselves in 2004 and 2005. The concerts were great in my opinion. The Shadows were on a high in 2004 and 2005 and together with Cliff in 2009 and 2010. I think they can rightly enjoy their retirement.

However, one always hopes that Cliff & The Shads will reform once again... ;)

Let's be honest...

The Stones have always been a bit loose and shambolic on stage. There are, of course, a variety of reasons for this. They were shambolic in 1971 and they are shambolic now. No one who goes to see them goes for the high quality of the music. They go for the 'experience' of seeing this legendary band on stage in front of them.

With the Shadows, it was always a mixture of both. Great music, played perfectly and the pleasure of being in the presence of legends.

Could Cliff and the Shads do it again? Of course they could.

Should they or will they?

We'll see...

I watched a recent clip of Paul live last year and his voice has lost some of it's power, the same goes sadly for Roger Daltrey.
We have to remember that the voicebox is a muscle, and after all those years of singing, talking etc, it will deteriorate as you get older, just like the rest of your body.
I'm 42 and have noticed changes in myself but that's for another time! :D

Sadly co-founder bass player/guitarist Bob Bogle, original drummer Howie Johnson, and longtime drummer Mel Taylor are all now deceased

tho' Mel's son Leon Taylor has taken over as drummer, plus longtime pal and 'honoury Venture' Bob Spalding finally came in officially on bass guitar and guitar when Bob Bogle passed away joinging original rhythm guitarist Don Wilson with either Gerry McGee or Nokie Edwards alternating as lead guitarist - so The Ventures (who never broke up) are still going as a touring band 8-)

it's VERY unlikely I know but it would be great to see Hank, Bruce and Brian...reunited with John Farrar (guitar, vocals, keyboards) and Brian Locking (Bass, harmonica, vocals) - plus maybe Cliff Hall on keyboards - as a final reunited version of The Shadows one last time - while they are all still with us !
(John, Jet, and Tony sadly are gone of course)

but that's never really likely to ever happen...

what would be nice rather than a tour etc would be a television programme reuniting them all one last time. Just a last chance to put everything to rest and honour the amazing contribution they have all made to popular music.

I'd only be interested if they did have John Farrar involved; I'm not interested in watching them play Apache and FBI for the nth time. If I thought they'd play a bunch of MW&F songs and added the third guitar in to spice things up and keep Hank on his toes, I'd be in the front row.
