Audacity software

Postby MikeAB » 06 Oct 2016, 18:26

Thinking of dipping my toe into recording myself 'properly' before the arthritis really sets in. Can anyone advise a safe link for an Audacity download which seems a good starting point - one I have tried got a warning from my Firewall.

Happy to purchase software but Audacity seems adequate?

Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for that link.

Can I beg one more bit of advice before I begin.

My main concern is connecting the guitar to the PC as I read you can blow up your sound card.

I run a Strat through the HCSE and into either the Caline EQ (preferred) or the Joyo Actone - and then a series of pedals eventually into either a VoxAC15VR or more usually headphones via the Vox AC30 Amplug.

I'd like to get the sound that the Amplug gives but I guess that cannot be used as the last stage - so where does anyone suggest I connect from. I am aware I'll need a shielded cable to the USB 'in' but can I connect to the mic input as I'm sure I've read this somewhere.

Many thanks for any advice.

I am very sorry that I cannot be of help regarding your problem. Being a non-guitar player, just a software user this is beyond my abilities.
But I am sure there are some specialist here which will be able to help.
Good luck,
Ulrich
