A Shadows 'story' documentary featuring interviews with Hank, Bruce, Brian, also John Farrar, and Brian Locking (they ought to do those now at least - while the guys are all still with us !) and any archive interviews with Jet, Tony or John Rostill (may be unlikely but you never know what survives in archives) ....something like The Hollies 'Look Through Any Window' DVD (regularly screened on SKY Arts) would be great - including as much surviving complete footage of TV performances as possible
Besides The Hollies, also The Small Faces, Herman's Hermits, Gerry & The Pacemakers and Dusty Springfield have each been featured in such historical retrospective DVDs
however they would be expensive to make and while The Shadows are of course SO important in the history of UK and worldwide popular music, the fact they were never big in the USA would count against them sales wise in the international market, plus they always tend to get 'eclipsed' by Cliff Richard in any Cliff/Shads retrospectives ('Thank You Very Much' etc) that seem to turn into a massive over praise of Cliff and rather forget how important The Shads were both in their own story and in Cliff's classic hits years
I can't see there being much interest from the younger wider public in The Shads either - most younger people would probably think they were just a bland 'covers' band of old guys ! - so that besides the lack of any wider American audience
(a shame as Americans who DO know of The Shads rate them highly) plus Cliff's 'issues' with the BBC (The Shads get tied to Cliff by association in many people's eyes and probably those of modern BBC execs) overall sadly I'd say would likely scupper the chances of any such historical retrospective of The Shadows own story and it would seem to be very unlikely, certainly at the moment
but never say never....
